Has anyone elected to just take aspirin and NO antiarrhthmic drugs? (Heart Disorders board)

16th February 2008
Has anyone decided after not tolerating these antiarrhythmic drugs to just take aspirin and antioxidants? After realizing that my Cardiologist was NOT listening to me and obviously would never..I am searching for a new one. I had my first AF almost 4 weeks ago. After suffering with it for two days, I went to the hospital (thinking I was having a heart attack) There they put me on Cardizem drip and waited several hours to see if my heart would convert on it's own. No luck..so they did a TEE and Cardioversion. I was put on Cardizem and suffered terrible side effects. I tried several times to make the Doctor understand that I could not tolerate it..each time he would do an ECG and tell me that I was not in AF, so this was the best med for me. I argued that the cardizem had not worked in the hospital..it just kept my blood pressure down. Long story short..I came off the cardizem (not easy) and am now suffering form severe panic/anxiety attacks. So..now I have another demon to fight. I wondered if anyone out there has decided to not take the antiarrhythmic drugs because they just do not work for everyone? I am taking aspirin and antioxidants. NO AF.(Just panic attacks):(
