recently had TEE and cardioversion for AF, feeling paranoid! (Heart Disorders board)

23rd January 2008
I went into AF three days ago and could not get it to stop. I was taken to the emergency room where they put me on cardizem, followed by a TEE and cardioversion. This did restore my heart rthymn back to normal. However; now that I am at home I am beginning to feel paranoid. I am a stay at home mom of three, and am always on the go. I did have an ASD repair when I was 17 years old, but have had no major problems except that I have Mitral valve prolaspe with slight regurgitation. I have had palpitations for years but they would only last shortly and always go away. This time they did not. The doctor put me on cardizem and said to take it easy for a few days (which I am doing).
As I sit here though I am beginning to feel more and more depressed. Will I have to be paranoid about excersizing or going out of town? I am only 46 and feel like I have so much more to do!
Do I need to go see a Pyschologist to get help with feeling like it is not all down hill from here? :(
If someone else has been thru this please share...

Alice,

I too have AF, with the history of PVC. NO cardioversion yet but I'm on cardizem. The Meds seem to make me have obsessive thaughts about suicide. I know it's the meds but but I don't know what to do. Check with your Dr. again. I read about cardizem, it can cause unsual thinking.
