Anyone out there with SVT or A-Tach ? (Heart Disorders board)

30th April 2004
I have been having tachycardia episodes since 2/9/04. Twice a month like clockwork, i am HYPO thyroid and otherwise healthy. I have a 180-220 bpm rythym and sometimes I can break them with cold water and vagal manouvers but the last one I had on 4/25/04 i could not break. The ambulance crew gave me adenosine 6mg then 12 mg then another 12 mg, nothing worked then they gave me a 20 bolus of cartizem and a 5 mg drip and another 20 bolus of cardizem before it finally slowed down.
My electrophysiologist now says he is suspicous that the ekg shows an atrial tach instead of svt and he cant do an ablation on that , its too complicated. He put me on Rythmol 225 mg 2x per day and metoprolol 50mg 2x per day. Is this going to help stop these attacks? Has anyone had a similar experience or is anyone on these meds? do they really work? and why am i having tachycardia when I am HYPO thyroid. Please help!!! I am soooooooooooo confused? I am also on the Nuva ring birth control vaginal ring. Does that interefere? thanks for ANY and ALL help. Cindy
