   Tylenon PM? (General Health board)

17th January 2007
Hi use benadryl over the tylenol pm if you HAVE to use either, like the others stated why take it without pain. Also prolonged use of acetaminophen can cause liver damage "higher dosages"especially when using other pain releivers as well as alcohol. From personal experience try to bare with the insomnia, sleep meds are "addictive!!" and taking meds for sleep has a rebound effect in the long run, it leads you right back to insomnia but worse. It is a natural process for our bodies to sleep unless there is a physical or mental disturbance causing chronic insomnia.Try to do it the natural way, cut out caffine, nicotine, exercise relax, warm baths, music, read ect....

I get small headaches very frequently. What I mean by that is I get headaches where I feel small aches on my forehead and the front side of the head. So really both may not be a bad idea.

I dont drink coffee much (not a coffee drinker), I dont smoke, I only drink socially, I listen to music I enjoy..and I excercise (and am in good shape) I just cant fall asleep during the day no matter what.

My concern stems from my last two doctor visits. The last two times I've gone to the doctor, I've had high blood pressure. The doctors haven't made much of a deal, since both of those cases I had some sort of infection. However, my concern is that this could increase it more.

Personally, I dont feel my stress is in any more then most people. I can sleep perfectly fine during night, and in general, I am not depressed. (though I have stress in my life)

I don't understand why taking Benadryl, even nightly, can be a problem. Many people's doctors tell them to take it daily anyway for allergies. As long as a person doesn't personally have a problem with Benadryl I can't see how it would hurt anything, even in the long term.
