Hi all and hope you had a Merry Christmas. My son has dealt with acne for a couple years now and was just switched to a new remedy two weeks ago. He was using tetracycline and some facial wipes, which helped a little but not alot. Now he is on Minocin twice daily, uses Retin-A-Micro @ night and has the same facial wipes. He also has a cream to use when his face gets too dry. He hasn't seemed to have any reaction to the antibiotics, nor any results yet but we're thinking he cannot use the Retin-A. He used it nightly early on and had itching throughout his body, head to toe. I had thought it was the antibiotic that was the problem but it goes away when he doesn't use the Retin-A. I should have called the doctor, I know, but I kept thinking it must be something else that was causing it. He tried the Retin-A again 2 nights ago and itched the entire day yesterday, head to toe again and then he swelled. He took benadryl and that helped. Has anyone else ever had such a reaction? I looked Retin-A up to see what the ingredients are but got a bunch of mumbo jumbo words that mean nothing to me. My son is allergic to Rondec and also to fish. I can't call his dermatologist until tomorrow (they're closed) but he is definitely not going to use the Retin-A. Its kind of a bummer though because his doctor said it works better than anything out there. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks alot.
