Hey, I thought I'd drop in and let you know that I've been trying the Aspirin Mask for the last few days, and I haven't broken out in days! Skin is much clearer, red and dark marks from past breakouts are fading..Also a lot less oil production.
I've been using this along with just Dial Antibacterial Gold Soap Bar... and the results have been amazing! I'm happy to say, that I have now officially stopped trying out all these OTC's and what not. Never been on oral medication, so I can not comment on that.
In addition to this, all I do is:
-Drink ~2 liters of water/day
-Exercise 20 mins in the am cardio/20mins pm cardio w/ weight training*** a
great stress reliever
-Take a regular multivitamin centrum
- Take 30mg of Zinc Tablets/day
- Take 1 500mg Vit. C/day
- diet, eat normally... although I try to keep the carbs to a minimum and try to abstain from the sugar period!
For those of you who have tried this, I'd like to hear your comments as well...
Any tips n' tricks would be great!
What you need to do to make this mask:
1. Crush up ~6 aspirin tablets (non enteric coated, i.e. Bayer) into a powder form.
** I have also heard instead of crushing the tablets, you can just add a few drops to the tablets until they dissolve.
2. Next drop by drop, add water to this mixture until it forms a creamy paste.
(You can use something like a spoon or toothpick to mix)
3. Next apply to cleansed and dry skin.
** Note this mask is not a "true mask" ... it will go on a little tough and dry, and you might notice some flaking of the powder. I have heard from other people, to perhaps add a few drops of aloe vera or use it in conjunction with a plain clay mask.
4. Leave on your face for ~15-20mins...
5. Before washing... you wet your clean finger tips with tepid water and gently rub to promote a great exfoliating experience.
6. Rinse face w/ tepid water, and pat dry... you can apply some moisturizer if you like.
7. Use it how and when you need. I do one every other day. It's pretty quick and cheap!

Yeah, for anyone interested in trying the asprin mask without spending a ton of money, you don't have to buy the brand name Bayer Asprin. I use my drug store's generic brand (its was like 99 cents for a 100 tablet bottle) and it seems to be working just fine since it has all the same ingredients in it (trust me I compared).
As far as the actual mask goes, I have used it 2 times so far and especially love the exfoilating step where you massage the mask into your face...talk about invigorating! I haven't noticed a big difference as far as my scarring goes, but my skin is starting to get smoother--which I love! I will stick with it and let everyone know the results.
BTW, CourtneyIAM, I might try the aloe vera b/c the mask flaked all over my bathroom floor and my mom made me clean it up. HeHe! I hope that the combo of the asprin mask and the Duac topical gel that my dermatologist recently prescribed to me will help my skin! Good luck to all who try it....MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :o)
skimom - I have slightly low - moderate acne with a bit of oily skin. I'm still trying to find a solution to the oily skin part, but it's not so bad. Using this mask every other day for me has been improving my skin wonderfully, and I rarely break out now. Actually stopping it for a few days, because I ran out... I had a few... it probably had to do with because I didn't wash my face two nights in a row, and waking up real late both days from going out n' wearing all the club fumes in my skin. Now restarting the cycle again, things are starting to come under control again. I have never tried any of these biomedic products nor micro-peels or any prescribed medications. I just stick to washing my face with dial gold soap twice a day and do the mask in the evening before I go to sleep. Afterwards I just moisturize with a light garnier zinc enriched cream. The only thing I notice from this is the drying, but it's basically the skin that is being exfoliated.
If I do feel the need to wash my face during the day, I just rinse my face with cold-tepid water, dry off, and reapply my moisturizer. Only wash w/ soap 2x day like I have mentioned.
I also take a zinc (30-50mg) and vit c. (500mg) over the counter supplement, Fish Oil capsules, and a regular centrum multivitamin and try to drink about a half a gallon water/day. I also try to reduce the intake of sugared drinks and keep from eating heavy carb rich meals after 8pm. The latter is just so that I watch my diet, but it could also help. I don't void carbs at all... you need them for daily energy needs.
To the others...
449271 - I am not sure about the usage of accutane and the mask. I don't know how the affect of the medication is on the "drying" part of it. The aspirin mask may dry you up a bit, but as long as you moisturize it should be ok. Please check with a doctor first on that, I can't give a concrete opinion.
You dont necessarily have to purchase Bayer brand aspirin. As long as it's the 500mg regular strength type,non-coated should be ok.
Hope this helps, and hope others are getting good results from this as well. Happy Holidays!

Alright, I tried this, but I'm not sure if I mixed it to the correct consistency. It was still pretty chunky, and wasn't really much of a cream when I put it on, and when I took it off I don't see any obvious effect. My skin isn't even smooth.
When you said it mixed into a cream... is it really creamy (this is just aspirin and warm water, correct?) or is still chunky?
Ah, alright. I think the ones right now are coated, but they're still white. *Shrugs* I'll have to look into this. This'll be my second night on the mask, and I can't really tell a big difference (besides really soft skin, which is great).
One last question. 6 Tablets mixed with water really isn't covering my whole face and I can't ever get it to go on evenly. I've made a couple different batches of the aspirin mask in order to try out consistency and from the best cream like ones I've only been able to cover 1/3 - 1/2 of my face and the covered space isn't evenly. Anyone ever try a brush?
All brands of asprin are coated nowadays. You won't be able to find a brand that doesn't have at least a light coat. It's part of the regulation now. If the asprin is white I'm pretty sure it'll work for you. Bayer makes a brand that has a light coat that works well. I get mine from my local drugstore that is a generic brand of Bayer and it works well. You just have to read the label closely.
When I use the mask it doesn't cover all of my face either. It's not going to go on like a tradtional mask anyway. The best thing I've found is to just do a little bit at a time and spread it very thinly and go back and pat in the big spots that are uncovered. You're going to be able to see your skin through the mask. Make sure to start with the areas you really want to concentrate on.
I haven't tried a brush but I've thought about it. The best brush to use for it would be one of those fan brushes. If you ever try it, let me know if it works better
