Zimm, I know how U feel about the drs. looking at U like your nuts, been there too. In 2000 a new dr. decided to put me on Lipitor, first 3 months were not bad, but by the 4th I was always stomach sick and losing alot of weight. Dr. sent me to a GI guy, oh brother, what a loon this guy was!! He actually asked me if I was doing this on purpose to lose weight. U don't know how bad I wanted to smack that guy. Can't repeat on this site what I did say to him, but I called my dr. and told him I would rather die then ever go back to him. Needless to say I sought out another GI dr. who turned out to be a total peach. He ran alot of tests, scheduled me for a colonoscopy etc. Only conclusion he could come to was I could NOT tolerate statins and told my dr. to just let me try and get my numbers down naturally. Since then they have tried me on Baycol, Whelcol and a few others I can't even remember, now I refuse to take anything. Like I told the dr., I can't live like a hermit cause on those drugs, if a bathroom isn't VERY near by, I had to stay home, except for Whelcol, that made me feel like a bloated constipated whale.
For almost 6 months I lived on cheese and cracker, gingerale and yogurt, trust me, it was hell, but I got thru it. Just hang in there, take each day as it comes and things will start getting better. Your not a crazy person, your probably like me, VERY sensative to these types of meds.
My very best wishes for you, and keep us posted how it is going........
