Quote from lane413:I think that's why Pres. Clinton stopped taking cholesterol meds. He probably couldn't take the pain. My mom took lipitor for three or four yrs. For her muscle pain they referred her to rehab. The pain continued until she stopped the lipitor, but by that time she had elevated liver enzymes.
Now they want her to take another statin. Go figure1
They did the same thing to me. When I couldn't tolerate Lipitor they shoved meon Baycol. Finally I got totally ticked off and tossed em, then they put me on Welchol, don't lose that stuff either. Sorry, but I went thru way too much with these drugs, and I am not about to try anything else, if they want me to sign something saying they warned me, fine, just get off my back. I don't remember anything about my liver enzymes being elevated, but the aches, pains and GI problems were enough for me.
My numbers have always been borderline, sometimes high and last time below the normal range, so I am tired of worrying about this numbers game, all they do is lower them more and more. My thoughts are they lower them cause they know the average person can't keep them that low and will have to resort to meds. Who knows, 10 years from now they might be saying it is BAD to have low numbers, as we already know, too low cholesterol can be just as bad as too high. I have known many folks who had heart attacks, clogged arteries, including my husband, and they all had perfect cholesterol numbers, so go figure...I QUIT!!
I wish your mom luck....
