   Switching Statins (High Cholesterol board)

20th November 2005
I've never been on a statin myself, but my brother had been on Baycol, Lipitor, and Crestor and had relatively minor problems with all, but the doctor decided to switch to a different statin when he complained. He's been on Vytorin now for over a year, but recently he has become a bit suspicious that he might be starting to have problems with it, too. It is hard to say, though. He complained of muscle pains after walking two miles a few weeks back. At age 75 he still owns and operates his own small business which includes a lot of physical activity, but I suspect walking two miles might use different muscles and his muscle soreness may not be from the statin at all. He's going to keep an eye on it, though.
