Picked top layer off and got infected??!! (Acne board)

21st February 2003
still is awful, 3 days no change, put bactroban on it.. no results.

can you describe it better? is it like a scab, or encrusted, or... what?

keep putting bactroban on it for the time being. don't pick at it.... since you have bactroban, have you had impetigo before? you may have gotten it again if so. in that case, bactroban will work after a bit, if it's not incredibly old.

yeah, I am on Bactroban....its like the size of a dime now unfortunately

yeah, sounds like a staph infection. your bactroban cream should help. if you ever pick, always put some peroxide or alcohol on afterwards. for the next couple days, in between the bactroban, i'd put some peroxide on it or rubbing alcohol, but not too much and not too often. it can actually make it worse if you put too much on it and dry the area out.

you might try some honey in between the bactroban too. seriously. it has natural antiseptic properties and is an excellent healer. give it a few days of that and without messing with it, and if it doesn't get any better or gets worse, maybe go see your doc (regular one will do fine) and get something else for it.

Question: How long should I keep bactroban on it? ALso, how much or how often do I put Alcohol or Peroxide on?
24th February 2003
don't know... and i'm not sure what to suggest without knowing your schedule. i'd put bactroban on it probably twice a day. peroxide or alcohol (do peroxide if you have it instead of alcohol, less harsh), small dabs, right before you put on the bactroban each time and maybe once in between... about three times a day. don't overdo it, it won't make it any better. i would try the honey too in between the bactro if your schedule permits. it can only help
