So completely frustrated! (Infant Care (up to 18 months old) board)

20th September 2007
Okay, my DS has had his diaper rash for 4 1/2 WEEKS! I have done EVERYTHING I can think of (including some suggestions from all of you). I have even taken him to the ped and was given Nystatin cream and Bactroban cream. Neither worked. Upon a suggestion from the gastro, I went back to the docs in the hopes she would suggest (along with the gastro) to be referred to the dermatologist. Well, no such luck. The doc doesn't think it is that serious (ummm....) and says to put NOTHING on him, including diapers ALL DAY LONG and let him air. Okay, that is not a huge deal, but she also told me that I had to be patient. Wait. That these things don't heal quickly. I said yeah, but 4 weeks? She didn't seem to care or act like it was a big deal. I said that he bleeds with his changes b/c he is so raw and they are like little holes in his bum. She said the same thing...put Nystatin on him and leave him air. I asked if I should buy some cloth diapers to put on him on outings, and she said no, that a diaper is a diaper and it is the moisture bothering it not anything else. I have had it. I am at a loss for what to do with this rash, and the docs aren't helping him. I sat there staring at the door after she left in awe, and crying for my baby. I realize this isn't a life or death situation, but come on!! I just want the rash gone!!!! I am going to call the derma tomorrow in hopes I don't need a referral. Please pray for me!
