Hi All... I am looking for any advise or insight and will be grateful to all that reply. In April 2007 I had a thought I had a plantar wart on the ball of my foot right underneath my right toe. I applied the dr Scholls(OTC) salicytic acid dot and covered it with a moleskin bandage provided...2 days later I had huge pains and removed the pad...there was a huge round yellow section of the ball of my foot now and pus came out...I went to my GP and he dsaid it was infected and that i had burned myself with the product. Since I have a heart murmur he said i needed to take high doses of clydamyacin for 10 days, soak my foot in warm water and salt and not to aplly anymore che,icals to my foot and to see him in 2 weeks. I didnt last 3 days and could barely walk on my right foot one morning...called the doctor ..he said go to the ER. They said it was an abcess and should see a podiatrist. Never being to a podiatrist ,I called one in the phone book that was closest to me. (Now we are in May of 2007)He continued to have me soak my foot and see him in 2 more weeks. 2 weeks came and left and I still had troubles walking and pus still coming out...he prescribed a higher dose of oral antibiotics and Bactroban and said if it didnt get better in 3 days he would have to operate.
Well it got a little bit better but he wanted to operate anyhow...he said he would make a small incision and find out what was going on. Well, his small incision was 4 inches long and 4 inches wide...he had fileted the ball of my foot...bad bad podiatrist...he even marked the wrong foot prior to surgery,,,thank god a nurse stopped him and had him mark the right foot...they never closed the surgical wound...no stitiches...just left wide open...I have since left that doctor and am seeing another podiatrist because there was very little communication between me and the 1st doctor
I have been out of work since May 25th...wearing an ortho-wedge shoe...very uncomfortable...many woes I have...but my big question is...How long does an open wound on the bottom of a foot take to close and heal????Please advise...anyone!
