[QUOTE=nancid75;3484846]I started spiro 3 days ago and the nosebleeds started yesterday. I was thinking it was because one minute my nose is dry, and the next it runs. I am also on Doxycycline, Differin gel, Finacea cream, and use Rosaderm cleanser.

Wow, so I'm not the only one with the nosebleeds. I was also taking Doxycycline while on Spiro. But they didn't do much at all, so I'm off both now. Bactrim is wonderful.

Haven't heard of Bactrim - cream or oral? I have been on all sorts of stuff in the last year. Very anxious to see if this works.

so this weekend has come and gone and i have seen no improvement. i didn't leave my house most of the weekend (though studying for final exams was a good excuse). I think I am going to call my dermatologist tomorrow. I don't have an appointment for another month but I don't want to wait that long. My boyfriend is graduating from law school and I am going to meet his family for the first time---and will be mortified if my face still looks like this. I have heard that many people have found that using an antibiotic while beginning spiro works wonders--Bactrim seems to work especially well according to some other boards. I am going to ask my derm if she can prescribe me Bactrim over the phone. I wonder if this will work? Last time (when she prescribed the spiro) was the first time I had gone to that particular derm. but she seemed very nice. I just hope she understands how badly i need help. Have any of you tried Bactrim before? Have you ever had a derm prescribe something via phone? I am def. calling tomorrow....wish me luck.

I think I got excited way to fast and now I am probably going to use anti-biotics for a few weeks with spiro. I've been hearing that bactrim is good? && I was just wondering goosepimples and karm009 - how do you guys take spiro? do you take 25mg after several hours throughout the day? or do you guys take the entire dose you were prescribed at one time?

hi guys!
I take 50mgs. spiro in the morning and 50 at night. I am taking 100 mgs. of minocycline with each of those doses as well. It's only been 2 days on the mino but I really think that I may be seeing a difference for the better. My forehead is still breaking out but I think that overall my skin may be improving. Still have a while to go though. I am not going to change anything until I see my doctor again in May, but I think I may want to go up to 150mgs. of spiro to get rid of the oil totally.
Sidraz: I think the antibiotic is a good idea at the beginning--I am so relieved I called my doctor to ask for it. I wanted Bactrim (there is so much encouraging stuff listed on here about it) but she prescribed me Mino instead and I went with it. So I say ask for the Bactrim. I am going to ask for it next appointment because of the side effects of Mino that Karm0099 mentioned.

I'm really sorry to hear that your not doing so well goosepimple :(. I'm not doing the best I could be either, I'm on 100mg of Spiro, and I'm on bactrim as well now. and I guess i'm just having a hard time being patient becasue its only been 3 weeks and I heard I should give spiro atleast 2months to work. I'm still breaking out as usual so its just killing my confidence of this medication working... I hope it does tho.
