Hello there,
I detoxed off Methadone and I did a taper and then at the end I could not drag it out any longer.
I want to say the very end was the worst and I actually and very thankful that I was guided through the process by a pin management Doc. There are many things out there to help. I did take Clonidine while detoxing and I also took something called Baclofen, it is an anti spasmodic for the jitteres and funky jerky movements. Both of those drug if taken for a semi long period of time have to be decreased as well but there is no WD from them.
I was prescribed Valium as well becasue in the end I just could not control my movements. The nausea and vommitting got to the pint that I became very dehydrated and had to go to the ER because I could not eat or drink or take any of the meds to aid in detox.
It is very important to drink as much water and try to stay hydrated. If it gets to the point that you can not eat or drink go to the ER.
The nausea stayed with me for several weeks after stopping so I had a prescription to help with that.
It does get better!! Everyones body is different and there is no exact way to treat everyone. This is only my experience.
Hang in there and jsut remember it wont be forever. There are many posts that I made about that journey so and there are many other detox stories on this board. It is important to have a plan and to stick to it.
Anyway keep us posted....Chrissy
