Sorry to hear about your husband. My dad was just diagnosed in August with bulbar onset als. My dad has not lost weight yet tho. He is eating whatever he can confortably chew and swallow. He no longer eats bread, only toasted whole grain types. He takes his pills with a spoonful of oatmeal. Tell your husband not to give up eating, just change what he eats. Small meals several times a day instead of three meals is good. Also, add more calories where you can, i.e. whole milk instead of 1%. The nutritionist at the ALS clinic that we went to a couple of days ago gave us some recipes for smoothies. They are basically fruit mixed with ice cream and carnation instant breakfast for more protein. You will need a blender for that. My dad doesn't have muscle cramps but "spacidity". He takes "baclofen", not sure of the spelling. Check with your doctor tho because the drug your hubby is taking may be making him more tired. I think these types of drugs are basically muscle relaxants and therefore cause tiredness. They may try something different for him tho. Good luck and keep in touch.
