You are quite right about silver being used in bandages. I myself in fact use a stethoscope cover impregnated with silver ions. Consider this- bacitracin is also included on many of the bandages we use, but I wouldn't go eating a tube of neosporin. Some things are better to be kept on the outside of your body.
