I don't know what to think!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Colds & Flu board)

25th February 2005
I, too, have had this "stuff" since 2/6/05. Started out with body aches, fever, chills sinus/head cold. Then a couple of days later the cough started and it has not stopped yet. Had 2 different antibiotics. Went to ER on the 13th, was having a hard time breathing just wheezed. Had lung xray-no pneumonia; no influenza A or B; just was wheezing a lot and coughing. The Dr. wanted to give me an albuterol treatment, but I cannot take it due to a heart irregularity. I am presently taking inhaled Azmacort which I can't see helping. I'm over the "fluie" part, but the cough hangs on. Here in the Mid-West, everyone has it, the Dr.'s offices are full, the hospitals are full. I believe a lot of pneumonia. I was DX'd with bronchitis. I've really been fighting head cold stuff since 3 weeks after getting the flu shot in Nov. 04. This cough is really scarey. At first I could not cough anything up, just a rumble, wheez, then it got a little loser and now I'm able to crack it lose & once in awhile I can get a little up. It was green in the beginning, now it's clear. How long can this hang on????? I talked w/the nurse at the Pulmanologist's office and she said they are seeing this lasting up to 8 weeks, so I asked if she thought it necessary to come in. She said as long as your xray showed no pneumonia, I probably would just have to wear it out, but of course, she encourged me to come in if I felt it necessary. I did not go today, I figured why??? My antibiotic is gone since Tuesday this week & I'm just the same. So if any of you have this crazy thing, I think it's something that was not anticipated and therefore, not included in the flu shot!!!! Just to let you all know who are suffering with same symptoms & discouraged in what to do, you are not alone tonight. Good Luck.
