Parkinson's and Lyme Disease (Parkinson's Disease board)

31st May 2008
Wow, I just found your message about a possible connection for Parkinsons and Lyme Disease. I wonder also. I was treated with minimal amounts of antibiotic fifteen years ago for an obvious red bullseye and Lyme Disease. Since then I have developed Arthritis and now Parkinsosn? I am currently on Azilect, Amantadine and Requip (2.5 mg 3 times a day). I'm not sure that this is the best cocktail yet. Walking getting better with Myo Fascia Treatments!!

Please, tell more of your story. I've had issues for four years starting with a lack of arm swing. I was diag with severe spinal stenosis and had surgery sept 05 but then post surgery when I still had gait (walking) issues and a minor tremor I was diag in Jan 07 w/PD. I'm "stable" and taking .5mg Azilect 1/d and 1mg Requip 3x/d. I've asked several neuros and neuro surgeons along the way about being tested for Lyme and all have said no - I see my primary care physian next week and plan to ask her. Several regulars on the spinal cord board have been diag with Lyme.

I get sacrial cranial massage which seems to work but the therapist is leaving in July - she wants me to try accupuncture too.
