In October of 2007 I was diagnosed with MS. At the beginning of this year I had a flare up that affected my vision in a way that was not typical of MS. I only have lesions on my spine and not my brain so my neurologist decided that with the combination my symptoms, I may have Devics disease.
I had the Devics disease blood test done and it came back negative. But 30% of those whose tests come back negative for Devics are truly positive. My neurologist then suggested a lumbar puncture. The results of the lumbar puncture did not give any answers the pointed towards one or the other disease. It has been suggested that I be treated by drugs that will help with both MS and Devics which is a combination of prednisone and azathioprine. From my understanding azathioprine was how MS was treated before all of the injectable treatments were put on the market.
Anyone in a similar situation or have any words of wisdom?? :)
