Malt Vinegar for BP? (High & Low Blood Pressure board)

25th April 2005
Quote from Lenin:
Stumper,

I've tried an ounce a day of malt vinegar for several periods.
I LIKE the taste but never noticed any of the claimed benefits (and there are MANY!)

Alas!

Lenin,

Yes, to be sure I can only imagine the claims.
I don't know, I guess it was worth the try just like anything else.

Did the malt warm you up?

BTW, I was the one who mixed the CCB and ARB not long ago in another posting (of which I cannot find) and the Verapamil and Cozzar eventually gave me the dreaded headache again. I wqent to the doc and he insists I get migraines. I kept trying to tell him that I NEVER had headaches until I took BP meds. He just didn't see it that way and prescribed me Axert.

He also gave me Cardizem LA to try and I did for about 1 week. It left me with swollen feet a little but the most troubling was increased heart palps (extra heartbeats) that were truly annoying. To the trash it goes!

So I am back to "spot" treating, taking a little Verapamil and Cozzar when I feel BP spikes some until I see him again.
But today I took NOTHING and my BP at Giant Eagle was 132/82 on first try and 125/84 on second. I may actually just go off of it all together. I am now started on a Statin which the doctor claims will lower BP. This may actually be enough for me I hope. Clinical studies are showing small but significant drops in BP from the Stats which is worth noting. And again, I am still keeping sodium really low, as best as possible.

I still want to try the Propanolol you suggested earlier. I gave him the two suggested here Cardizem and propanolol but he only gave me the one.

Is the propanolol cheap? How does it compare to Atenolol in your opinion?
