help for vestibular disorder, head pressure (Inner Ear Disorders board)

23rd August 2004
I can't believe I am reading your post because I have been getting the same thing for a year now!!! I was finally diagnosed with vestibular migraine about a year ago. The pressure is sooooo intense on the top and back of my head. My ears feel like I am taking off on an airplane and they won't pop. I also get facial numbness sometimes when it gets really, really bad. My neuro gave me Axert to abort the migraine which I took yesterday because the pressure was so bad. She wants me to take Diamox which is a diuretic as a preventive (which I have not taken yet). [ removed ]

By the way, I am a 44 yr old female, mother of two!

My neuro wants to treat the vestibular and migraine at one time. That is exactly what she told me. Don't quite understand it though. I had a bad week and had to take Axert to try to abort the migraines. She has put me on a 6 day course of Methpredinosonol (sp?) to stop the cycle of the migraines. I am hoping this will not throw off my balance even more but I do hope it helps to stop the pressure in my head and ears.

Yes, she said that will help both - but as a preventive only. Which means I have to take Axert if I get an attack. Would you mind me asking why you take the diamox? Is it for the vestibular?
