Worried about starting drugs (Multiple Sclerosis board)

13th February 2008
Hi There Zadie,

Its been a while since i chatted to you.

All i can say is take your time to research the meds.. its not easy.
Dot worry about being a chicken. It took me 4 years to get back onto the meds ( I take Avonex) cause i was scared to go back on them. My excuse for getting off them was to have another baby. Took a damm relapse before i went back on them.
Its never easy. But do know we are here for you. Any questions about the meds . I'm sure someone will happily jump in.

You'll never be alone...Take care sunshine.

Hi Zadie. your fear is normal- we ALL went thru it...and the overwhelming choice of which drug to take is scary too...there are alot of really great posts on this board about the drugs..
If you have some time, I suggest you do two things- you can search under my name for other posts and look for the LONG LENGTHY POST which I wrote about comparing the 4 drugs...or, you can simply type in the name of each drug, one at a time, Rebif,Copaxone, and Avonex and Betaseron and look for posts by different members on their experiences. If you find my post, it had 4 pages of responses, questions and comments on how the drugs were different, alike, and side effects...it might help you, but ALL OF US HAVE ASKED the questions you are asking- and really, there are thousands of posts on the subject to be found right here in healthboards.

Your other choice is to start contacting the manufacturers of the drugs and have them send you out info- however, beware, it all starts sounding alike after awhile. That is why I love healthboards; it is real people giving you real experiences..you hear the good, the bad and the ugly- but its all honest.

When you narrow down specific questions, post them! Youlll get lots of answers..
Hugs
Nikki
