Hi joeh and Karl! Karl - Glad both you and your sister are seeing results! Did your sister start with a low dose and work her way up to 100-125mg/day? I have been on 25 and 50mg respectively since September of 2004 without any major changes in my skin, so I am wondering if this is the right medication for me. I think that I really DO need to get my hormones checked to be certain! Also, I wasn't aware that Spiro affected potassium levels...do you take a supplement?
Hi Laura,
I'm sorry, I forgot all about this thread. My sister started at 50mgs and slowly worked her way up. I am not on it anymore, because of the electrolyte imbalance, that I mentioned previously. My face is pretty clear these days, even without any medication; I was taking Spironolactone to treat my oily skin which was pretty mild. I now control the little bit of oil that I have with Saw Palmetto, and Propecia. I take the Propecia for it's DHT inhibition. I take the Saw palmetto to supplement the Propecia.
Avodart is not availble in Australia yet, so I have to patiently wait. You can get potassium supplements. You probably need to increase your dosage, or, perhaps, even add the contraceptive pill to the spiro. See an Endo., if you havent already.
