Day 1 Start (Birth Control board)

20th July 2008
[COLOR="darkorchid"]Hi all! I have always done the Sunday start thing and now that I am on Aviane, my cycles are weird! I keep starting exactly 1 week before I'm supposed to, which means not only do I bleed lightly that week, but during the "off week" I bleed even heavier for another week. Eventhough it is light, I don't enjoy bleeding for 2 weeks!!
So I tried this: Last pack, I skipped the placebo pills and continued to take the active ones of a new pack just to see if by the time my body wants to bleed again if I'd be in the placebo week.
Anyway, if this doesn't work, I thought about taking a month off, get my natural cycle again, then do the "day 1 start". So my pill pack starts with Sunday on one line, ends with Saturday at the end of that line. [I guess all birth control pills do] If I start, say on a Wednesday, does that mean I take "Sunday's pill" or skip the first 3 pills and begin "Wednesday's pill". I'm really confused with that.

Is Aviane a pill where each one has the same level or hormones except for the period ones at the end? If it's like ortho tri-cyclen, they are different, but I know I take Yasmin and every active pill is the same.

If yours is like that too, you don't have to skip those first few pills. Mine has a removable label so you can put your days however you want. Maybe there is a way you can change yours so it doesn't accidentally mix you up... or just really make sure you remember! You can always start with the ones a few days later and then take those first few pills AFTER you finish the rest and before your period, if that makes sense. Might be easier to keep track of!

I'm not sure if being a Day 1 starter will make a difference, but I hope something works out for you! I know I wouldn't want that either. I'm a Day 1 starter and have never had any problems.
