Quote from bumblebee919:Hey all - I have been on aviane (the alesse generic) for a few months now, and I had my dr send in a prescription for a home delivery prescription service of my insurance company. I guess I was supposed to specify that I wanted aviane (b/c they carry aviane), but I just said "the generic for alesse" so they mailed me 'lutera'
i haven't really heard anything about lutera...when I do searches I come up with much more stuff for aviane than I do for lutera, so I'm assuming it's not as widely used as aviane is. This got me a bit worried (although I'm guessing I probably shouldn't be!)
I was wondering if anybody knew anything about lutera or had any experiences iwth it
or, has anybody went from one form of a generic to another form of a generic for the same type of BCP? any experiences?
I'm a little worried but I'm thinking I probably shouldn't be so any comments woudl greatly be appreciated :)
No reason to be concerned. The active hormones have to be identical to Alesse. You probably won't notice any difference at all.
Most pharmacies don't carry multiple different generics for a specific brand, so you get what they carry. Even requesting a specific generic doesn't mean that they'll be able to fill your request.
