About a month ago I was suffering from a soar throat. I don't have medical insurance so I went to a local walk in clinic. My glands were so swollen and white that the doctor didn't even do a throat culture. He assumed I had strep and gave me Avelox and I was on my way. Two days later I had gotten even worse so I went back to the doctor. He took blood to test for mono and told me to stop taking the Avelox and gave me Ketek instead. The next day I got a call from the doctors office saying that I did have Mono. He didn't tell me to stop taking the Ketek even it's used to treat anti viral infections. exactly a week after my first visit to that clinic I noticed a rash forming on my hands and chest, small itchy bumps. I went back to the clinic the next day. My throat was still bad so the doctor gave me more ketek and a cream for the rash. He didn't seem concerned about the rash at all. The next day the rash was worse and spreading all over my body. I went to another doctor who gave me a steroid shot and a small dose of steroid pills to take over the next few days. This didn't help the rash got worse and worse. My hands and feet swelled up so bad that I could hardly even walk or use my hands. Finally I went to the hospital were I got a larger dose of the steroid shot and stronger pills to take. The rash is finally going away but now my hands are very dry and peeling really bad. Nobody seems to know what's going on, was this caused from the ketek? Should I even have been on Ketek after the doctor found out I had mono? Do I have any type of lawsuit against this doctor if the rash was cause by the Ketek? Any information would be helpful at this point! Thank you!
