Anyone Ever Use Ketek for sinus infections? (Allergies board)

23rd December 2004
Ketek is like Erithromycin, and is very safe. I'm not sure how effective it is.

Drugs like Levaquin, ****o, and Avelox should not be used for sinus infections generally. These are dangerous medications, with debilitating side effects like tendon ruptures, nerve damage, psychosis, paralysis, etc. There is a movement within the medical community to stop doctors from prescribing these drugs unless it is a life-threatening situation, such as bone infection, osteo-mylitis, etc.

I spent 6 months in physical therapy, and racked up $20,000 in medical bills (which insurance covers fortunately), thanks to a bad reaction to Avelox.

I took both Levaquin and Avelox within a short period of time for a sinus infection, that ultimately required surgery. My reaction to the drugs was

1. Allergic vasculitis: red spots all over my hands
2. Peripheral neuropathy: burning and tingling in the arms and legs that lasted for 5 months.
3. Nerve damage in the elbows and feet: took 7 months to recover from this.
4. Chronic tendonitis in the wrists and ankles.
5. Initially, I could only sleep 3 hours a night.

My reaction wasn't as bad as some others, who suffered tendon ruptures and ended up in a wheelchair for 2 years. One guy's wife went permanently psychotic, so he wrote a book titled "Bitter Pills" -they sell it on Amazon.

If sinus infections are a frequent thing for you, look into surgery. You might have a structural problem like I did. Surgery is a breeze, and will make a world of difference!

The drug companies give doctors HUGE kickbacks to prescribe Levaquin and Avelox, while telling them it is safe. There have been more than 10,000 severe adverse reactions to this drug in the last few years.
