I am taking 10 mg of Coreg CR per day. I had a heart attack in June of 03. I have CAD and some indications of heart failure. This is my 6th day on Coreg CR. I took atenolol, another beta blocker, for over 6 years and it suddenly caused drug induced Lupus in me.
I have read that it takes 1-2 weeks for the full effect of this medicine to take effect. So far it is not keeping my BP low enough on it's on. I am having to take an ARB, Avapro that I stopped a while back, due to intolerance of this drug class, to properly control my BP.
Over the years I have noticed that I can take a 1/2 dosage of a med and get the same effect. Maybe some of you would feel better and control your BP and heart rate just as well, with less Coreg CR or Coreg. Always speak with your doctor of course.
I was wondering how many of you/us were prescribed this medicine by a doctor other than a cardiologist?
