Exaggerated Heart Rate & HTN? (Heart Disorders board)

10th June 2005
Hello,

I'm a 28 year old male. I've had mild hypertension (155/95) since I'm old enough to count. My doc has assured me that I have no damage at my age, but I'm finally getting it treated. Just started taking Avapro this week. :)

Anyhow, my question is unrelated... I've noticed that I have a really exaggerated heart rate. For example, my normal heart rate is around 52-60 BPM. But if I make the slightest movement like standing up, it jumps to 130 BPM. When I digest a muffin, 130. When I'm a little hot, 130. In the shower, 130. And my cooldown time is VERY long. For example, if I take a 15 minute walk, it will take about 1 hour for my heart rate to get back down to 60. Okay, I admit that I'm a couch potato and don't get much exercise, but still...

I suffer from a little bit of heart anxiety as well. Maybe the fact that I'm concious about my heart rate makes it jump?

Any advice?

Thanks guys!
