Cass, no i stopped taking the toprol xl 100mg due to severe side effects. Along with the verapamil, i take hctz 25mgs and avapro 150. I think tomorrow i'll take the verapamil and avapro and half of the hctz. Can verapamil cause shortness of breathe?

Not that I know of, At least it didn't cause me any problems. Did you have a problem with Avapro?

Thank you bharkin. I keep noticing a wheezing at night when i go to bed. Sometimes i hold my breathe to see if it is me wheezing or my husband. It stops when i hold my breathe. It told my dr and he says i have allergies. The only thing he wants to do is give me another med (albutrin sp?). I can't stop the verapamil bcuz i suffer angina so im stuck.
Cass, sometimes the avapro hurts me . Particularly in the first two weeks. It causes severe leg pain. I usually only take 75 mgs in the beginning and increase to full dosage 150mg after two or three wks. Avapro doesn't help my bp too much. It is still running 140 to 169 over 72 at times. One would think taking three bp meds would lower my bp more. I think i will take zip2play's advice and insist on seeing a cardio . My gp refuses to give referral so i changed drs.

A cardio is a good idea. I finally saw one after many years of good and bad readings. They are the best when it comes to BP control.
As for Avapro, I tried Avalaide ( Avapro with HTCZ ) and it caused my BP to rise and gave me bad palpsd.

Cass, thank you for that little info. I recently got back on avapro and that's when my palps really started. If you remember from my prior posts, i was walking 3 miles/day then i increased it to 5 miles/day. Now im lucky i can walk half a mile without stopping a million times.

I just signed up for bs/bc insurance and will definitely change my gp. i want to see a cardio asap. I am also diabetic and i see an endo now.Nobody (doctors) will change my bp meds, although i keep telling them a nurse practioner prescribed these meds not a dr.
