concerns about steroid in Advair (Asthma board)

24th May 2007
I am also concerned about the steroid component in Adair. I know that doctors and drug companies will say that "the steroid goes straight to the lungs and is not distributed throughout the whole body, like an oral steroid. So the steroid goes only where it is needed". But I have noticed in the last few months that TV commercials that advertise Advair for asthma do not mention ANY side affects. But the commercials that advertise Advair for COPD and Chronic Bronchitis say that it could cause osteoporosis and vision problems. It also says that these problems could occur if used for more than 6 months. THIS IS THE SAME MEDICATION! What is the difference? I just don't trust the drug companies any more. Their pocket books have gotten just a little TOO fat for my comfort. They are not going to mention side affects unless they feel threatened with law suits. The drug Avandia is just an example. It's a drug for diabetics and now they say it can cause heart attacks and death. I'm searching for alternatives to make my life better and healthier. If it was good enough for the Chinese for thousands of years, it's good enough for me!
