Very worried pre-op patient (High Cholesterol board)

19th July 2004
Hi everyone ~

I am scheduled for laparascopic gall bladder surgery tomorrow. I was supposed to have it in early June but the procedure was cancelled just prior to start due to an abnormal EKG. This turned out to be nothing. I was started on Avalide (sp) by my cardiologist (for high blood pressure) and cleared for surgery. I'm a little concerned about a potential problem and any advice is appreciated. I was getting all my things ready for the hospital and was just looking through all my paperwork. I pulled out my bloodwork results for the last 2 months and just did a quick comparative. The last bloods (from my pcp on 7/13) show my triglycerides up to 255 and total cholesterol of 214. This is an increase from my last set done by my cardiologist on 6/17. Those results showed as triglycerides 187 and total cholesterol of 206. I am hoping that these last bloods might be erroneous. I have been watching my fat, losing some weight and trying to be healthier so I'm quite nervous about these results. As mentioned, my cardiologist did start me on Avalide (sp) and am wondering if the medication might have something to do with these results. Does anyone think this might be something of real concern that could potentially stop tomorrow's procedure?? Thanks so much ~
