My tonsils became swollen sunday and it turned out I had tonsillitis, I went to the doc yesterday because my tonsils were so swollen they were touching each other. He prescribed me some prednisone for the swelling, augmentin for the infection and codeine for pain relief.
My mom gave me some of her augmentin on wendesday so I'm just using hers, and I started using the prednisone and the swelling has gone down a little bit.
Anyway, my problem right now is that I have this constant feeling that I need to "hock up" and spit out mucus and saliva, even though my sinuses are not really draining at all. I know it's because of the tonsils being swollen, but I get this extra saliva and mucus in my mouth and it feels like I can't get rid of it any other way except to spit it out (swallowing is still difficult) and the problem is exacerbated if I eat/drink anything that normally causes me to feel "phlegmy."
Is there anything I can do about this?
