   Artery Infection? (General Health board)

24th December 2006
I went to see the doctor on Thursday/Friday about a llump that was in the area of my femoral artery. They did some blood work, guessing to test for clotting and such and came back fine. I have a splinter in my foot, which he thinks to be the cause (though was not removed as of yet as it is pretty well burried).
My problems:
Have been getting Cold Sweats (?). Feel as if my temperature is fairly high, but the slightest draft will send me to shakes from a chill. At night time I have been sweating quite a bit.
I have a lump which seems to be on my femoral artery and is slightly sore to the touch. No skin discoloration or anything of the sort.
Also just noticed that the gland near my groin (on same side as lump) is also somewhat tender, but am guessing that is due to the artery.
I was given anti's (AMOX TR-K CLV 875-125MG TASAN (a sub for Augmentin)) and have been taking them, but am wondering if that will be enough? After taking the med's was not having a problem at night time and woke up fine on Saturday, but then had to make a 5 hour drive and walk around for about an hour or two, so when I came home was exhausted, sore and the chills were coming back again. Not sure if it was because the meds were not working or because was putting added stress to the problem.
I did some reading up on Artery Infections and most that I found were drug/injury/accident related, so that really did not help much. Of course, my reading into the treatments did not give much comfort either since most consisted of surgury, amputation, by-passing, grafting, etc.
Normally, I would just take what my doctor says in heed and not put a tremendus amount of worry into it, but I had a slight fracture in my neck a while back and nothing was done about it and also that he did not seem to know all that much as of what to make of it. Am wondering if I should just keep taking the medication and put it out of my mind, or go seek additional help promptly! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
