why did you have tonsils removed (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

23rd October 2005
I had mine removed due to recurring infections and that they were overly enlarged. I also had my adenoids removed and my septum fixed due to recurring sinus infections.

To be quite honest - the surgery was not worth it in the least bit. Since my surgery in June 2005 - I have gotten 2 bad sore throats, the last one was 2 weeks ago when I got another bad sinus infection and it sucked. I am now on my second round of antibiotics (first ketek and now augmentin) and it is finally subsiding. Plus - I loss part of my taste after surgery - everything is bitter and I no longer can tolerate sweets, as well as many other foods I used to enjoy.

Hopefully in time I will have a better outcome, but as of right now I am really down in the dumps because I went through all of this pain and lost my taste for nothing.
