Good Results but good enough? (High Cholesterol board)

24th April 2005
Hi everyone.

I am a 53 years old female and I was put on Atorvastatin with a cholesterol of 380 some years ago. My test early January was 234 with HDL 47, LDL 159, Tri 142 although it has been better on the Statins.

Since then I have had great success coming off my BP meds after 30 years reducing figures up to 160 on meds to 100/63 without meds. It was such a good result I decided to come off my Statins at the begining of March (7 weeks ago).

My figures last week were 192, HDL 30, LDL 132, Tri 151.

I am very pleased with all apart from my HDL. I would like to improve it.

At the moment I am taking 1gm Omega-3 fish oil, 20g of ground flax and trying to increase my fibre, about 30g a day (tough while I'm dieting). My weight is down to 148lb and still dropping so I'm hoping this might make a difference. (My ideal weight range is 130-144 lb). I've lost 18 lb since Xmas and have started to exercise a couple of weeks ago although I can't do huge amounts as I have CFS.

Any advice would be welcome.
