Sorry, I misread that post at first and only now do I realize it was a question for me.
No, I don't think that I'd care for just the HDL drug because I tend toward "mixed lipidemia" and I need something for the LDL and the triglycerides as well.
I'll probably be a good candidate for the mixed preparation if the whatitsname proves safe. BUT since I have ample Lipitor stockpiled and access to partners simvastatin I would like the choice to take my OWN mix of the two drug types. Also by then probably the Zocor will be generic and at the best price point. I'd like to choose if and how much HDL lowering I need rather than have Pfizer make the choice.
Of course it may ALSO be a backdoor way of extending the patent on atorvastatin (Lipitor,) the world's largest selling drug of all time, which is due to run out in a few years.
