I was on a beta blocker also. Atenolol - and according to what I read today, if you suffer from Gerd problems beta blockers only make it worse. I would talk to your doctor and change your b/p medication. In my journey with doctors, they just prescribe - they don't think first. I suffered terribly with Gerd on my beta blocker and though I am off of the drug now, I still have the problem, but just a little less often. Beta blockers are not to be given to people who experience Gerd. That's it in a nutshell. So do yourself a big favor and get onto another b/p med if you so need one. Beta blockers just aggrevate the condition. Do some research on your own. I can't mention where I found this info out, but if you browse the web you'll find out that what I am saying is 100% correct. When I was on atenolol I had other problems too and my dr said that "it couldn't be from this drug." But, low and behold, once I stopped the medication the problems went away. Doctors pretend to know their medicines, but in actuality, they do have a lot to learn. My daughter was on Zoloft for a week due to a boyfriend breakup. She had diarhea and eventually vomited and the dr said that it was impossible for this to be caused by Zoloft. But, when I did my research and saw the it definitely was a side effect of Zoloft - it all came into focus. Dr's don't know the side effects of medication, except maybe the very blatent ones. ;)
