So Hard Not Knowing What To Do About Anxiety (Anxiety board)

21st February 2008
If you think about it, we come to this board looking for advice which we usually find. Then we try something recommended and either it works for us or it doesn't. It's very difficult to figure out what's best for you. Doctors tell us one thing, posters on the board provide their expertise and we're left in the middle to make an educated decision which sometimes may not be in our best interests. I went to an internist. He prescribed some medication to help me sleep. The pill is Atarax. I went on various searches only to learn that many people don't like this pill so that leaves me wondering whether or not I should take it. Now, that's what these boards are about. Finding out what others do. I just feel it's so hard to figure out what to take based upon everyone's input because we all react so different - but it's also hard to just take something a doctor recommends because they are all so pill crazy and I think they just give out pills like they're candy without thinking about all the side effects. So that leaves me still in a position of not knowing what to do.
I know it's all trial and error, but the error part can be awful if you take a pill that causes your system major problems. I am just venting. If anyone else wants to chime in, please let's hear what you have to say. All I want is to be able to sleep through the night without waking like a zombie in the morning, or waking up in the middle of the night with panic like attacks. It's just that simple.
