Allergy Shots: A Poll (Allergies board)

3rd March 2004
I am on my 3rd week of allergy shots. I took them a few yrs. ago but didn't see a difference. my allergy problems are mostly skin related but also allergic rhinitis. Since starting the shots my arms and neck are very red and broke out, always itching. I've had dermatitis for yrs. but neck and arms never this bad. My face was very broke out before i started the shots and it's the main reason i went to an allergist as the numerous dermatologists i saw weren't helping. At this time i get 3 shots a wk. and each wk. the dose is upped. I do feel my sinuses dry out more after the shots but since i already have a problem with dry, congested sinuses this isn't helping. I'm also taking allergy meds. 2 x day and atarax at night for the itching. Glad i started taking the shots now as i'm having to wear long sleeves and high necked shirts.

Britose:

You probably won't start seeing the benefits of your shots until a couple months or so because your body has to start building an immunity to the allergins. Believe me, I know it can be rough. Hang in there!
