I can relate to what you are going through with the PND causing ear pain and swollen glands. However, I do not get a reaction from the antihistamine like that. Pseudoephedrine in decongestants clear the nasal passage by stimulating adrenaline receptors therefore making you jumpy. Since I am small and thin I cannot take decongestants often because they make me jumpy and keep me awake. Anthistamines usually work the opposite way and make you sleepy but of course some people's bodies react differently to different drugs.
I would also like to find one that just takes away the PND. I have tried everything too. I just saw an ENT yesterday and he prescribed me Astelin nasal spray which is an antihistamine and Zyrtec. A coworker of mine used Astelin and swears her PND went away after 4 days! Well, we'll see. I'm a little skeptical though but willing to try almost anything at this point. He also told me to irrigate my sinuses with a bulb syringe twice daily with a baking soda/salt solution (which I have been slacking off on).
I also get a sinus CT scan done next week to rule out any sinus disease.
Your problem with the funny feeling in your chest could be because of what you are taking with the antihistamine (you mentioned Allegra-D & Zyrtec D)- those have a decongestant in it too, so it could be the decongestant making you feel weird. Or it could be caffeine or other medication you are on. I would do a thorough search of all the meds you are taking and see if they have any interactions.
I hope you start feeling better soon!
