I just wanted to add that neurontin has worked very well for me also for nerve related pain. And, I am not on a large dose either, only 300 mg at bedtime. I haven't had any side effects, maybe remember it being a bit more difficult to wake up the next morning for about a week. It does also have the affect of helping sleep as well. I know a lot of doctors don't use it for back pain, as it is an off-label use but it really does work well for a lot of people (and just as many who say otherwise). I also am on a very strong anti-immflamatory, Arthrotec, which has helped me enourmously, 75 mg twice a day.
