What the stroke did to my mom (Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia board)

2nd March 2008
Saw my mom this Saturday. Before she had the stroke two weeks ago, she had hallucinations/paranoia accused me of many things, called me names, said she killed people and all other outlandish things. Since her stroke, which the doctor said she suffered no major effects, she has become a sweetheart - she eats more than before, listens to what we say with no arguments, doesn't wander anymore and likes to rest more. She is back to her old sweet self - is it possible the blood clot in her brain made her act that way. Very weird. She does still have alzheimer's as this stroke was followed by two mini strokes over the years. The doctor added Namenda to the aricept - and she is on other heart meds. Can a stroke change someone's personality for the better?? maryann
