Aricept (ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder board)

5th March 2007
Hi Wanttochange. Thanks for the reply. I actually have an autisic child who has been on aricept for a month and a half. I asked his doctor to research it. It took him a couple of months but he decided it would be a great med. to try. As I was researching this myself, I had a feeling it would help my adhd child even more than his brother. His doctor will not prescribe it. He is not even willing to look into for a pediatric patient. It is completely out of his comfort zone. He said he would be willing to refer us to someone else who would prescribe it. The problem is finding someone. (It is unfortunately not possible to have him see his brothers doctor at this time.)

Before I push too hard for aricept I would really like to hear
about the experiences that others have had. I am assuming from your post that you did not have any side effects.

Hi JP. Thanks for the response. My autistic son actually has had alot of bowel problems in the past. We have been able to keep it under control with a very strict diet. We haven't noticed any increase in bowel trouble (or any other unwanted side effects), but that is very interesting, I will keep watch.

The reason I was so interested in the Aricept is because of what acetycholine does in the brain. Both of my boys have problems with excecutive function. I have been hearing alot about Provigil. I know it helps with fatigue and sleepiness. I will have to research it and see how it helps with adhd.
