There Is a forum further down on the main page just for Alzheimer's.I too was diagnosed with AD 5 years ago. Each person Is different at the different stages. There Is not set length of time for each stage.....How old are you? I was 58 when diagnosed,I am 63 now, still hanging In there. Are you on Aricept? I was for 4 years, but now am on Reminyl,as the Aricept wasn't working like it did.........

By the way, I forgot to answer earlier after the responce to my question that I AM on Aricept but don't know if it is helping. I still seem to be having symptoms. I had gone to the VA to apply for benefits and forgot why I was asking a question. That was terrible.

Just a thought to consider...Joe :)

Dumb question. Why further evauation? The Aricept lasted me 4 years.I take Reminyl now,& Effexor.was on other meds.but I was too dopey,& i refused to take them anymore.I'm doing great with what I'm on now.As long as you can still function do so.You still have a voice In your care.I have a very loud voice In my care,& will for as long as I can, then my hubby will do It for me.......Be as posative as you can,& laugh alot.We do.Kepp your mind as active as you can also.I work a picture puzzle every day,do research on AD,am on a private web site for AD,& caregivers.I talk often on the AIM IM.........I do watch lots of TV,read anything I get ahold of........

I was referred there by my neurologist. It's free to me so why not? I do not think that Aricept is doing me too much good. Get lapses of forgetfulness, inatentiveness, etc. Besides, I need all the documentation I can get to enhance getting not only full disability from SSA but also 100% disability rating from the VA on my retirement check from the military. Cannot afford retirement otherwise. Joe
