Did you hear - new osteo medication (Osteoporosis board)

29th May 2005
There have been a few discussions about IV biphosphonates on this board so if you do a board search on Zometa (Aredia is another one) it will bring up all the threads where there's a reference to them. Their primary use is for treating bone cancer patients.

I was going to have infusions of Zometa until I found out that it can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw. I decided not to go through with it, but you might want to consider it. There are no GI problems with it and my oncologist says it works better than Fosamax or Actonel. It's pretty pricey and my insurance required special review before they approved it, but they did.
