I have RA and I have had 2 doses of the Remicade but I am switching to Humira due to cost. Remicade is very expensive compared to Humira and my Insurance will only cover so much. My rheumy said that the Remicade is more potent, but he hoped to get good results with Humira. I cannot tell yet that it has been effective other than I do believe my swelling is down somewhat. Still pain and stiffness in the joints, especially ankles and feet. But the dr. said I really hadn't had enough doses yet to see good results. I also am on Methotrexate and Arava and I can tell that has helped alot.
Not sure of long term effects, but I do know that it really suppresses your immune system, so you have to be careful with infections and stay away from sick individuals.
Good luck, hope it works for you.
