Anafranil belongs to the far older class of anti-depressant drugs known as Tricyclics and it is also strongly used for the puprose of people who suffer from O.C.D.
It goes to show once more that no two people ever respond the same to psychiatric drugs especially as some people do really well on the older class a/d's and other people do better with the newer class drugs. Trial and error is often the only way to find out which works better for any particular individual. Glad to read that you have found the right medication for you. :-)
