Wow! what a way to learn a hard lesson about taking other people's meds!
Amitriptyline layed me low for several days, in fact 2 weeks or longer. The best thing for you to do is check with your doctor. I took it according to doctor's instructions and it turned out to be one med my body did not tolerate.
Many times some meds are not compatible with other meds a person may already be taking.
Most likely it will have to wear off, but, better be safe and check with your doctor.
DO NOT take any "sedative" type meds while still having side effects of the amitriptyline. This includes anahistamines, pain meds, muscle relaxers, cough meds and many more.
