hello Used to be on amiodarone.The doctors choice of drug for me, until it caused my thyroid togo into thyroidtoxicity and hyperthyroidism. This drug has iodine in its compound. My thyroid thought "hey i hit paydirt,oh boy iodine. " The Drs had to think this through should we remove the thyroid to continue using this drug or stop. They choose to stop the amiodarone. This drug is good for short durations. My thyroid is back to normal. I'm drug sensitive. Drug therapies are individualized, trial and error. I have a major heart problem,7 years, I taken a lot of drugs to get where I'm at today. Alive. Like with all drugs comes with side effects, so sometimes the benefits out weigh the risks.
